LOW COST GROUND STATION FOR LEO SATELLITES APPLICATIONS

This paper describes the development that supported the production of low cost ground stations to be used with LEO satellites, namely PoSAT1.

With this approach, and adapting commercially available equipment it was possible to bild up a product, already tested in the field, even in military applications, for digital communications.

A user interface was developed in order to support the upload and download of files as well as the tracking of the satellite.

The modular architecture is described as well as the performance using either directional or omnidirectional antennas.
